Product Information

Our 25-28mm room darkening curtain pole are specially designed curtain poles that helps reduce the amount of light entering through the gaps around the edges of your curtains. Unlike a standard curtain pole, it is shaped and mounted so your curtains wrap closer to the wall, improving light blocking and privacy.

Key features include:

  • Wraparound design: The ends of the pole curve back toward the wall, allowing your curtains to sit flush against the wall and block light leaking in from the sides.
  • Extend to fit, no cutting required.  Which makes installing this product quick and easy.
  • Improved light control: When paired with room-darkening or blackout curtains, it can significantly reduce light entering around the edges of the window.
  • Enhanced insulation: By creating a closer seal around the window, it can help reduce drafts in winter and limit heat gain in summer.
  • Greater privacy: Minimizes gaps that people could see through from outside.
  • Decorative options: Available in a range of finishes such as matte black, brushed satin silver and brushed antique brass to suit most interior styles.

Room darkening curtain poles work best when used with:

  • Blackout or room-darkening curtains.
  • Curtains that are wider and longer than the window opening, ideally extending beyond the frame and reaching close to the floor.
  • A snug fit with minimal gaps at the top and sides.

They're commonly used in:

  • Bedrooms, where reducing early morning sunlight can improve sleep.
  • Home cinemas or media rooms to reduce glare.
  • Nurseries, helping maintain a darker environment for naps.
  • Shift workers' homes, where daytime darkness is beneficial.

Though these curtain poles are often called room darkening poles, the pole itself does not block light. The purpose is to improve the performance of the curtains by reducing the light that escapes around their edges. For near-total darkness, pair a wraparound room darkening curtain pole with high-quality blackout curtains or consider a blackout blind behind the curtains for an additional layer of light control.  We offer a wide range of colours and sizes in our blackout roller blind range.
